About Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF)

The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) is the official governing body responsible for the promotion, regulation, and development of cycling in Ghana. It was funder by Staff Sgt. Adjivon in 1952. It operates under the authority of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), and is affiliated with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) – the world governing body of cycling – and the Confederation of Africa Cycling (CAC), the continental body.

Mandate and Functions:
Develop, regulate, and promote cycling as a competitive and recreational sport in Ghana.
Organize national competitions, leagues, and championships across road racing, track, BMX, and mountain biking.
Select, train, and prepare national teams to represent Ghana at international competitions such as the African Cycling Championships, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympic Games.
Develop grassroots cycling through regional associations and affiliated clubs.
Work with government, corporate bodies, and international partners to improve infrastructure, training, and sponsorship opportunities.

Structure :
The GCF operates through an Executive Committee, headed by a President, with elected officers including Vice Presidents, a General Secretary, Treasurer, and regional representatives.
The Federation oversees regional cycling associations and registered clubs, which form the base of competitive cycling in Ghana.
Key Activities:
National Cycling Championships – annual competitions to crown national champions.
International Cycling Tour of Ghana – Ghana’s flagship cycling event, attracting both local and international teams.
Youth & Grassroots Development – programs to discover and nurture young talent.
Capacity Building – training of coaches, mechanics, and commissaires (official referees).

Partnerships & Sponsorships – collaborations with government, corporate sponsors, and NGOs to support the growth of the sport.
